Riviera Gaz é um trio multinacional formado pelo baterista Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth), guitarrista e vocalista Gustavo Riviera (líder da banda brasileira Forgotten Boys) e pelo multi-instrumentista Paulo Kishimoto (Pitty, Forgotten Boys). Desde sua formação, em 2016, o grupo vem construindo uma consciência coletiva psicodélica onde riffs de fuzz, energia glam rock, experimentações de estúdio sem medo e grooves inspirados em Can se fundem para criar novos e instáveis elementos sonoros.

O EP de estreia da banda, “Pere Ubu”, foi lançado em 2016, seguido pelo primeiro álbum, “Connection”, em 2018. Essa primeira fase do grupo era crua, rítmica, punk e ao mesmo tempo contagiante, com músicas que combinavam o ataque visceral dos The Stooges com o núcleo melódico de grandes referências da composição pop e rock, como The Kinks e David Bowie. O trio excursionou pelo Brasil, Argentina, Uruguai e Chile tocando em festivais e casas de show enquanto consolidava sua identidade sonora.

Em 2026, o grupo lança seu segundo álbum, “Catacroma”, que leva sua sonoridade ainda mais longe, expandindo músicas de rock aparentemente diretas em experiências cósmicas estranhas e expansivas — um lançamento ForMusic Records em parceria com a Revolver. Leia o release completo.

Riviera Gaz is a multinational trio formed by drummer Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth), guitarist and vocalist Gustavo Riviera (leader of Brazilian band Forgotten Boys) and multi-instrumentalist Paulo Kishimoto (Pitty, Forgotten Boys). Since forming in 2016, the group has been building a collective psychedelic consciousness where fuzz riffs, glam-rock energy, fearless studio experimentation and Can-inspired grooves fuse to create new, unstable sonic elements.

The band's debut EP, “Pere Ubu,” was released in 2016, followed by their first album, “Connection,” in 2018. That first phase of the group was raw, rhythmic, punk and infectious all at once, with songs combining the visceral attack of The Stooges with the melodic core of major pop and rock songwriting references like The Kinks and David Bowie. The trio toured Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile, playing festivals and venues while building its sonic identity.
